As a Premier bike shop in the Minneapolis area we have a huge selection of the best bicycles..... Following is a list of the brands we carry and a little about each company. We have included a link to their site and a brief summary of what we carry from them and why.
Marin is a family and employee owned Bicycle Company based in Marin California. Building quality bikes since 1986, they take great pride in the bikes they make.We are proud to be a Marin bike dealer serving the Minneapolis area.
They build a full line of bikes but we especially like their city (cross bikes) and urban bikes.
Long considered as the leader in design and manufacturing of City bikes, Marin's rich history in this series makes them hard to beat. Well though out geometry designed to keep the rider more upright and comfortable. Their Urban bikes use durable steel and alloy frames utilizing the hydroforming and Edge 2 shaping process to yield bikes that are bomb-proof solid and designed to take the abuse of every day city riding. Not as relaxed as the geometry and fit of the more traditional City bike frames, the Urban series has proven itself to be the bike of choice amongst those accustomed to the ride and feel of a mountain bike which ensures comfort & control in those surprising situations.
At Giant, the two-wheeler is more than just a machine; it's an integral component of society, a friend and a way to explore the boundaries of your world. Combine this passion with ultra-advanced manufacturing and design and the result is some of the world's finest bicycles.
From their Formula One carbon road bikes Created with Giant’s proprietary composite technology to the most advanced techniques in aluminum frame building processes. Giant’s proprietary aluminum features a 30% increase in stiffness over traditional 6061 aluminum, allowing engineers to use less material throughout the tubes, which results in lighter frames while never sacrificing strength and durability.
Giant's Maestro full-suspension bicycles tame every conceivable trail condition. Using a single pivot point to neutralize both braking and pedaling forces, it's able to soak up high-frequency trail vibrations and big hits alike, while maintaining its legendary pedaling efficiency the entire time.
Giant is the largest manufacturer of quality bikes in the world and is our best selling brand. We carry many of their models including everything from kids bikes to their full suspension mountain bikes.
The folks at Jamis never set out to be big. They just wanted to make some great bikes. For 30 years, they've concentrated on doing what they do best—designing and building the kinds of bikes you want to ride, the kinds of bikes that turn a good day of riding into a great day, period. A few happy Jamis riders became a few more happy Jamis riders and after 30 seasons the have quietly become big, a nameplate that gets noticed in the pack and out on the trail. And it was done by building the very best bikes, and letting them speak for themselves where it counts—in the woods, on the road, on dirt jumps and bike paths and everywhere else you might spin a wheel for fun.
We carry quite a few of the Jamis models as they offer a very complete lineup that happen to also be great values. A highlight in their line is the series of flat bar street bikes in the Coda series. Fast street bikes are the new game in town--city slickers with speedy and efficient 700c road bike wheels, dressed down with flat handlebars and handling tuned for the quick-paced flow of urban traffic. But we’ve been at this “new” game since 1991, and being early adopters puts us well out in front of the curve.
Built in Spain, we love the full lineup of men’s and ladies carbon road bikes like the Orca Ridden to an Olympic gold medal in Beijing by Basque rider Samuel Sanchez, the next-gen Orbea Orca performed to the expectations of the team of skilled designers who took an award-winning design and made it better. Orca was the first of our bikes to be built using Orbea’s proprietary Size Specific Nerve (SSN) technology, which utilizes specific design characteristics for each frame size, making the ride quality consistent from the smallest to largest rider. A higher percentage of Toray’s premium M40J carbon fiber made Orca lighter, but with a 20% increase in bottom bracket stiffness. Paired with Orca’s complex tube shaping the result is a bike with great visual lines and incredible road feel. Truly the best racing machine available, with a lifetime warranty to back it up.
Masi is an old world Italian road bike company. We mostly carry their classic Steel bikes from racer to commuter style these bikes offer a great ride and classic look. Masi bicycles built with steel are not built to fill a place in your garage. Rather they are built to fill a place in your heart. Few other frame crafters have done more to perpetuate the mythology of steel than Masi. In fact, steel is the material we used to build the first Masi in the middle of last century. While space-age materials zoom in and out of favor with each passing season, steel refuses to bend or break under the forces of fad or fashion. Technophiles are quick to wag their fickle finger at steel’s perceived lack of svelte, but serious riders understand what Masi designers have known for decades: the half kilo or so a steel frame might add to the rider + bike equation means nothing. Think about it: The difference between a 175-pound rider on a 19-pound bike and the same rider on 23 pounds of glorious steel is less than two percent. We’re sure there’s a formula for calculating what two percent of extra weight equals in lost seconds at the end of a 120-mile ride, but frankly, we’d rather ride while the rest of the world mashes buttons on a calculator.
The other day a kid on our team was surprised to learn some dude named Bob Haro actually founded our company. You know, that Bob Haro: the man who pioneered freestyle. If you didn’t know that, you should. Being a rider and not knowing about Bob Haro is like being a baller and not knowing about Michael Jordan. It just ain’t right.
In the early days there were ramp riders, flatlanders and skatepark pros. If you were really good, you did all three. Street riding came a few years later, followed by dirt. If you killed it on any of these surfaces, you proved it at contests and jams. Some reclusive cats lofted their jive on underground videos. A handful of the very best took themselves and their sport to a whole new level at the X Games. In every era, on every surface, Haro bikes and the guys who rode them ruled. Even after 30 years, some things never change.
Haro is the original BMX brand. In three decades we’ve watched the scene go surf punk to street thug, clean to neon, grunge to punk rock and dead to glam. Believe us—we’ve been there. Perhaps more importantly, we never left. Think about that before you buy into The Next Big Thing…
At Tonka Cycle & Ski we carry a huge selection of the Haro BMX, Freestyle & jumping bikes along with their MARY 29ers.
We choose the Bikes we carry a little differently than most bicycle dealers the Twin Cities area. We carry a much wider variety of bicycle brands and "cherry pick" only the models that we feel will best fill your needs.....
